3 Favorite Master Suite Bathroom Makeover Ideas

Have you been thinking about giving your bathroom a much needed facelift? There are so many great ideas out there, it can be hard to decide where to start. Our recommendation? Take a look at your top needs and wants in terms of functionality, and then factor in today’s top design trends.

Here are three of our top favorites:

1. Master Suite Bathroom Retreat
Is your master bathroom as comfortable and functional as you would like? There are many ways to make most master suite bathrooms bigger. Opening them up to the bedroom or master closet is a good way to create a roomier feel. Open-plan bedroom and bath plans are a very popular design trend for 2015. Installing larger sliding doors makes the space convertible, giving the option of opening up or closing off a space.

3. The Custom Vanity
Who doesn’t want a vanity specially designed for their particular needs? From sleekly floating models to uber-functional creations with many drawers and other storage and special features, like media charging stations and pocket doors, bathroom vanity design has come a long way. Nostalgia is big in today’s bathroom style trends as well. Old-fashioned shaving cupboards, often with an urban industrial edge, are very popular as well.

3. Bigger Showers
Walk-in showers with oversized panes of glass or tiled walls that define the space are not only popular, they’re also a wise investment. Just be sure to design them with a “zero-threshold entry”, or, an entry without a curb or step up from the floor to the shower, or vice versa.  A zero-threshold shower is a key feature in universal design, should the user ever encounter a limited mobility issue. In fact, ensuring that shower is designed with the minimum 5’ turn radius will accommodate a standard wheelchair. While these are not necessarily a features homeowners are clamoring over, there’s no question they boost property values, and should you be planning to grow old in your home, they’re features that can quickly become unexpectedly indispensable.
